Michael Dean Smith

June 17, 1952 ~ August 30, 2017

Michael Dean Smith, of Velma, Oklahoma, was born June 17, 1952, to Roy and Iva Smith. He passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at the age of 65.
Family visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 1, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Whitt Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 2, at 1:00 p.m. at the Freedom Biker Church with Rev. Billy Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Stewart Family & Friends Cemetery, located west of Velma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Michael graduated from Duncan High School. He worked as an electrician at the family business S&S Electric for many years before going to work at Butkin Oil Company in Velma. He retired in June, 2017. He collected knives and guns. He enjoyed OU football and basketball. He also enjoyed watching the classic car auctions on television. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandkids.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Velma. He also had a loving family at Freedom Biker Church in Duncan.
He is survived by his son, Heath Smith and spouse Nicole of Cache; his step-son, Shane Jones and spouse Breanna of Velma; five grandchildren, Ian, Cole and Tristen Smith, and Kali and Lane Jones; his mother, Iva Smith; his brother, Marty Smith; his sister, Lisa McFarland and spouse Steve; his nieces, Mary Estes and spouse Will, and Lori Schoonover and spouse Luke; his great-niece, Quenn Estes; his great-nephew, Max Schoonover; and his special friend, Joe Stewart. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loving friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Roy Smith.
Pallbearers will be Marty Smith, Heath Smith, Joe Stewart, Kenny Harger, Kerry Don Pemberton, and Robert McNeil.
